Celebrating a Century as a Faith Community

STUDENT ACTIVITIES
Students at St. Cecilia School are encouraged to participate in school and parish activities that enrich them spiritually, socially, academically, and physically.

Many religious events and activities nourish students throughout the year. Students participate in the Liturgy as altar servers, lectors, cantors, or as youth choir members. Celebrations such as prayer services, school passion play, and the May Procession are held during the school year.

Service projects foster a closer relationship between students and community. For example, students mark each holiday with a letter to a parish shut-in. Halloween candy is collected throughout the school to give to those less fortunate. Students participate in a gift-giving project during the Advent season for people who are in shelters. The students create projects for the Sisters in Camilla Hall. They go to Camilla to sing songs and deliver the creations. The students participate in many mission collections throughout the year.
Social activities are promoted through school and parish programs. The Home and School Association sponsors many activities including roller skating parties and assemblies for students. The CYO sponsors dances, trips, and service projects.

Students participate in a variety of competitions that challenge them academically. Students compete in math and spelling among their classmates as well as students from other schools. The Science Fair is held annually. The students also are invited to participate in art, prose, poetry, and speech contests.

Students also participate in CYO organized sports programs that include basketball, cheerleading, track, softball, football, baseball, soccer, and volleyball.

Various other programs include:
  • Theater Troupe
  • Student Council
  • Buddy Program
  • Winter and Spring Band Concerts
  • Educational Field Trips
  • D.A.R.E. (substance abuse program)
  • Shalom and CORA Guidance Programs
