Volunteer Opportunities

We recently went live on our parish’s Ministry Scheduler and have open slots available. Of course, all are invited to spend time in church and stay as long as you like. If you would like to commit to an hour a week on Mondays or the first Sunday, please contact Anita Schragen (215-512-4910) or Theresa Kuhar (215-694-3709).

You could be the first person someone new to our church sees. All you have to do is welcome them and answer any question they may have. We are currently looking for people to join this ministry at the 5:00pm Saturday Mass and 9:30am Sunday Mass. Please contact Sherri at 215-399-6178 for more information.

The role of a lector is to proclaim the Word to the people of God. It is a ministry in which we are privileged to participate. It calls for sacrifice — an investment in time and energy to effectively communicate the sacred scriptures to the people of St. Cecilia. We are looking for 15 more lectors. We are looking for men and women volunteers to help with light cleaning to keep our beautiful church clean. If you have a half-hour to help either after the 6:30am or 8:30am Mass on Wednesday mornings it would be greatly appreciated. And, it does not have to be every week. This center is an educational mission of the IHM Sisters. We are currently looking for volunteers to help teach English to immigrant adult students at Holy Innocents Parish in Juniata Park. Volunteers are especially needed for evening classes (6:45pm to 8:15pm). Classes will begin Sept. 11th. No previous teaching experience is necessary—we will teach you. Fox Chase Cancer Center is looking for volunteers to show compassion and care for patients and family members. Our volunteers tell us they get more than they give and how rewarding it is to help—especially our pet visitor volunteers—they are wagging the entire time they are here! Would you like to give a small amount of your time helping young children who do not attend a Catholic school prepare for the Sacraments and learning about the Catholic faith? Our PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) is looking for teachers for grades 5, 6 and 7. You are welcome to stop by the school Sunday mornings between 9:15- 10:45am and view some sessions in progress and talk with our CRE.
